Meet Our Featured Members of the Month for January 2013!

To kick off the new year, we thought we'd bring back some of our favorite featured members from the past!  We are looking forward to the upcoming year and all of the new features of ModelWire Network!  Remember, if you have any concerns, please contact us at support@modelwirenetwork.com and we will get back to you quickly!  Enjoy these blasts for the past!

Model of the Month:  Kara Gibson

Why modeling?
I enjoy expressing myself through movement and energy.  Modeling is as much story telling as acting and I enjoy both very much.
Who is your favorite model of all time?
My favorite model of all time is Kate Moss.  I love that she doesn't meet all of the standard requirements of a model (i.e. her height), but for what she lacks she makes up for in her strengths.
What inspires you?
Music inspires me.  If there wasn't music I'd have nothing to live to (as opposed to dance to).
What do you look for when selecting a photographer to work with?
I look for hot girls when selecting a photographer.  I would rather be the weakest girl they've got to shoot with.  That way, I'm assured that I'm putting myself in a pool of women that make me look better.  I never want to be the best one in the room, because when I'm not I'm not, I'm not improving my career.
What is your most embarrassing moment professionally?
My most embarrassing moment professionally would be being too awesome...c'mon guys, please - you think I'm going to have industry professionals read that?!

Photographer of the Month:  Allen Henson

Who is your favorite photographer of all time?
Helmut Newton.  I prefer black and white photos and I love anything with a noiresque feel.  And the sexuality - it's perfect.
What kind of camera/equipment do you use?
Right now I'm shooting with a Nikon D3s and a D300.  I consistently rotate between an 85 and 50 prime lens and a 70-200.  If I light, I use Profoto heads.
What is your favorite project you have worked on?
I'm currently in South America.  It's wild.  There's not really any rules here, so it's perfect for creativity.  I don't like rules.
What genre does your work focus on?
Editorial.  I don't really like "pretty" pictures.  I get bored easily.  We have to take pretty picture a lot in this line of work.  With the pretty ones I always feel like I'm boring myself.  The editorial is exciting and it's interesting to me.
What is your most embarrassing moment professionally?
I leave the lens cap on a lot.  I notice immediately but it gets a chuckle out of the models.  I'm absent minded like that.

Featured Wardrobe Stylist of the Month:  Rhett Collier

What do you look for when selecting a model to work with?
Models are selected based on whether or not their specific attributes fulfill the needs and conceptual components of the project.  This is very integral to the success of any project.
What is your favorite store to shop at?
I don't have favorite stores to shop at.  However, I do love the experiences of certain retail environments.  Opening Ceremony (New York and Los Angeles) on one end of the spectrum to AllSaints, on the other.  I enjoyed eating and purchasing Aesop products at Colette.
What is your favorite project you have worked on?
My all-time favorite project I worked on was "Entre Nous."  It was successfully published three times internationally - in America, London and China.
What is your personal style?
My personal style is classic with a twist.  Gucci black knee-high boots with GAP skinny jeans.  Two favorite personal jackets are one by Jean Paul Gaultier and a navy number by Atsuro Tayama, both purchased somewhere between 2005 and 2006 and a vintage Lanvin-Castillo '50's scarf found in Paris. The best wardrobe style is one that looks good and works well!
What is your favorite band or song of all time?
One of my favorite songs of all times is "Talk We Don't" by Pal.  I have many favorites-old and new.  I love music!

Makeup Artist of the Month:  Rachel Nicks

Why makeup artist?
I have always been an artist since I was young and I love to talk to people.  What better way to combine those two than to become a makeup artist?  Also, I love watching my work in action.  there is no other high than knowing your art is being appreciated.
Who is your favorite makeup artist of all time?
Pat McGrath.  Her vision is impeccable and it speaks through her work.  She truly is an artist and I admire her creativity and passion.  I strive to have her level of knowledge and artistry.
What inspires you?
Art, everyday people and most importantly, my team.  Their energy feeds and inspires my creative soul.
What do you look for when selecting a model to work with?
Good skin, variations of expressions, great eye control, buckteeth (I have a love for buckteeth women) and lastly, someone who is easy going.
What product can you not live without?
Cover Fx cream foundations.  They are simply amazing.
Do you have any advice for the members of MWN?
Always be appreciative and never forget to thank the team you are working with.

Featured Hair Stylist of the Month:  David Harrington

Why hairstyling?
I have been cutting hair since I was about 15 years old and always had a passion for it.  I used to cut all of my friends' hair in high school.  It was always something I have totally enjoyed.
What inspires you?
My inspiration comes from the designers, photographers and things I see on the street.  Things I have done in the past.  I am working on a full circle in the industry and I have seen it all.
What do you look for when selecting a model to work with?
One that photographs well.  For me, it's not about how beautiful the person is, it is how beautiful they look from behind the camera.
What is your favorite band or song of all time?
David Bowie.
Do you have any advice for the members of MWN?
Do the best you can do and be professional.
